South Thames Foundation School is a part of NHS South East Coast
Foundation schools have overall educational responsibility for doctors in their two year foundation programmes. They bring together local Medical Schools, Deaneries, Trusts and other organisations involved in training.
STFS manages all F1 and F2 doctors (approx 1700) in 19 NHS trusts in South London and Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS). It is based in 3 offices at its linked medical school sites at London Bridge, Brighton and Tooting.
Dr Jan Welch is the Director of the South Thames Foundation School and is based at London Bridge. Two Associate Directors, Dr Martin Parry at Brighton, and Dr Mark Cottee at Tooting, give local leadership and three Foundation School managers provide support.
STFS is a collaboration between the KSS and London Postgraduate Deaneries and King’s College, London, St George’s University of London and Brighton and Sussex Medical Schools. KSS Deanery has day-to-day administrative management and strategic overview of the School, covered by a service level agreement with London Deanery.
