On Tuesday 24 February 2015, STFS held its annual Foundation Faculty Briefing. The programme allowed STFS to provide an update to its stakeholders on the on-going work. It allowed presentations on the effects of Broadening and updates on the work by the Less Than Full Time Training and Careers team.  The programme also included BTFP case study presentations from St George’s Healthcare Foundation Trust and Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

We were very pleased to have Professor Sir Simon Wessely, President of Royal College of Psychiatrists, giving a talk on the effects of Broadening on recruitment of doctors. Dr Jan Welch, STFS Director spoke on the future of foundation training and this was followed by the HEKSS Dean Director Dr Abdol Tavabie on HEE: Beyond transition. Dr Will Barker, the founder and director of Dr Tool Box gave a presentation about Dr Toolbox while Dr Nicola Walters, FTPD at St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust provided a case study presentation on the implementation of BTFP. Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust also presented their BTFP implementation case study through Dr Paul Reynolds, FTPD and Dr Alexander Brazier, F1 Foundation Doctor. In addition Christine Bridge, STFS Foundation School Manager spoke on the Less Than Full-time Training while Lisa Stone and Margaret Holbrough from the Careers team provided updates about the work in Careers department.  Andrea Taylor, SLIP project manager provided a progress update on the Streamlining work stream. The sessions were facilitated by Dr Mark Cottee, Associate Director, STFS and Dr Jan Welch, Director, STFS. We hope that it was both an informative and enjoyable day for the colleagues who attended.
