|STFS Guidance for Local Departmental Induction (2).docx||440.2 KB|
At the start of employment foundation doctors, like any employee, receive induction to both the employing trust as well as to the location of work. Whilst trust induction is usually managed by medical education departments, local/departmental induction is delivered by teams and individuals with the localities/departments.
Excellent local induction ensures that doctors become familiar with their new workplace, colleagues and ways of working, and therefore enables them to become confident and competent in carrying out the duties of their post.
STFS has agreed a set of guidelines to be implemented for the induction of foundation doctors within the region. This includes a generic induction checklist providing details about what essential information should be covered at induction. This checklist is not exhaustive as some departments may have additional requirements to be considered.
