The Department of Health, Health Education England and the Medical Director of the NHS have advised that all FY1 doctors should spend a minimum of four additional days in their employing trusts as an opportunity for shadowing and to take part in extended trust based induction.    

A summary of the shadowing guidance issued by Health Education England as well as details of shadowing arrangements within STFS affiliated trusts for July 2016 are available to download on the right hand side of this page.

Health Education England has released new guidance to support the delivery of the shadowing period and NHS Employers have revised their advice on how to contract and pay for this period, including a new model contract. To find out more click here


Results of F1 induction/shadowing survey - August 2015

A summary of the results for STFS as a whole is available to download from the right hand side of this page.

Each local education provider has received an individual breakdown of the results and has been requested to consider them at their next local faculty group meeting and to involve current F1 doctors in planning shadowing/induction arrangements for August 2016.
