There has been a change to one of the requirements in the PMETB's Generic standards for training. The amendment relates to trainees taking consent for procedures they do not perform, but which they understand and can explain to patients.

Doctors who want to take time out of their Foundation Programme should first discuss this with their educational supervisor. Although they will be expected to complete their Foundation Programme within two years, they should not have to do so if they have good reasons for wanting to take time out.
The latest edition (21 September 2009) of the STFS e-Update is now available on the e-Updates/Bulletins page of the STFS website.
If a foundation doctor feels that they are struggling/experiencing difficulties they are encouraged to contact their foundation training programme director as soon as possible so that appropriate support/advice can be provided.
Trust faculty groups meet on a regular basis and will update the STFS Director on any trainees experiencing difficulties.

STFS invites prospective F1 doctors to attend a Programme Fair in advance of them being required to submit their programme preferences.
Individual trusts have a stand enabling each to publicise facilities/opportunities available and answer questions from applicants.
