Postgraduate Centre | This is located in the purpose built Education Centre which is located on Level 5 in the Kingston Surgical Centre. This comes with state of the art audio-visual equipment facilities. The centre has two Lecture Theatres which can be opened up into one which will hold up to 150 people. There are eight other seminar rooms all different sizes and all come with A V equipment and smart boards. One of the rooms has video conference availability and is used regularly. There are also three clinical teaching rooms, which comprise resuscitation room, mock ward and clinical skills room, which are used for all clinical teaching within the Trust.
Accommodation | A limited amount of accommodation is available on a first come, first served basis, at a cost (in 2010) of £447 per month (ensuite) or £379 (shared bathroom). Please note that all figures are subject to change. The long-standing staff accommodation has been refurbished and has been supplemented further by the provision of newly built accommodation on site. These latter, modern rooms include both en suite and shared facilities accommodation and are situated at the north-east end of the site no more than a hundred yards or so from the centre of the hospital.
Social activities | As well as monthly events organised by the mess, Kingston Hospital is a very social and friendly work place, with regular impromptu gatherings after work. This year we have organised a number of nights out including a bowling trip, and in June we hosted a successful summer ball, with over 150 people attending from all departments and professions.
Doctors' mess | The Doctors Mess is located on level 2 within the Kingston Surgical Centre next to the restaurant. There are 6 computer stations and a kitchen area. Provisions are provided from ISS and the cost is deducted monthly from the doctors’ mess account. There is a large seating area with Sky TV and the subscription for this facility is also paid from the doctors’ mess account. The room is cleaned daily.
Library facilities | Stenhouse Library
IT facilities | Kingston Hospital was the second hospital in London to go live with CRS (Care Record Service) linking the electronic patient record to the national spine for England and providing the core for a full electronic record in the future. CRS supports full order communications for pathology and radiology investigations, integrated with PACS and also supports electronic noting for handover.
Other facilities (Recreational or otherwise) | There is a staff nursery, which takes children aged from one to five.
Local amenities/attractions | Kingston Hospital is a 520-bed acute general hospital, located in an attractive part of Surrey, within easy reach of Central London, Richmond Park, the River Thames, the historic Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames, and open countryside.
Transport links | Information about transport links is available on the Kingston Hospital intranet and web site.
Parking arrangements | If you wish to have a car-parking permit, this has to be applied for and the cost of this is taken monthly from your salary. The permits allow for you to park in the staff car park only and not in the pay and display areas.
